Kayaking DestinationsKayaking the Schuylkill River
Kayaking the Schuylkill River is a must visit for Berks County residents and anyone visiting the Reading area. It features an exciting combination of history, nature, and countryside. This includes early German settlements, the Reading Railroad, and the Schuylkill River Canal system. It's a great place for birding and picture taking.
Bridge at Wall St (Leesport) to Eplers Landing Boat Ramp (Bern Twp) Approx 2 1/2 to 3 hours. This section of river has a mix of riffles and runs and makes an exciting summer get away. We rate this trip as moderate, but it can be suitable for ambitious beginners. The section of the river we will be using is considered class 1.
If you are interested in a longer run please ask us about putting the kayaks in at the Peter Yarnell Park in Shoemakersville, and ending at Eplers Landing Boat Ramp, this trip would be approximately 5 1/2 to 6 hours.
Two vehicles are required when you paddle down the Schuylkill River. You will need one at the end of your kayak trip, so that you may drive back to your vehicle.
*kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and drinking water are provided on every trip!
